Bubbletop matting is one of the most commonly used solid rubber mats in the UK.
The top surface is covered in hundreds of small 'bubbles' or domes - approximately 13mm diameter x 2.5mm to 3mm high, offeringh a good, non-slip surface, particularly useful for older horses that need more grip to get up safely.
The underside of the mat has deep drainage grooves running along the length of the mat offering uni-directional drainage when laid onto concrete floors. This mat can also be laid onto hardcore or earth floors making it very versatile.
While the mats are normally used bubble up, they are equally as useful laying the bubbles down where they then offer a multi-directional underside drainage especially when laid on trowel finished concrete floors. Used in horseboxes, the mats are normally used grooves up - running from front to back and allow urine to flow freely out of the back door !
If laid tightly between walls, sealing the seams is not really neccessary, however this can be done quite simply with various different sealants including black silicone or gutter sealant.
We offer this mat also for use in horse-exercisers - supplied in standard sheet size to be cut and fitted as a DIY project. Alternatively please see our bespoke dovetail cut mats, manufactured specifically to your walker dimensions, and each mat cut to the most precise tolerances.
To calculate the number of mats used on a walker, multiply your outside diameter (in feet) x 3.15 - then divide by 4 and add 2 mats - alternatively see our cut mats and let us do the hard part !
