Our slip-resistant material is designed for those customers who need to use the mesh straight away, and cannot wait for grass to grow through to give the neccessary traction for vehicles.
The mesh incorporates a unique new wave design, offering better grip – so especially good for those customers laying mesh outside the normal growing period, or for temporary work at events etc. Where used as permanent reinforcement for horse or cattle use, it is recommended that the grass is allowed to establish do the roots entwine with the mesh and hold it close to the ground.
This material is being used successfully for horses in all types of applications such as anti-poaching mesh in gateways and walkways. Where used as an underlay support mesh in menages however, it should be covered with a minimum 150mm (6″) riding surface.
Full installation instructions accompany each roll – if they are missing on delivery please contact us!
The mesh is also used for heavy duty, or regular parking areas on grass-field sites and is capable of taking an 8 tonne axle load, so especially good for access points onto permanent car parks or venues where high vehicle numbers are expected.
To fix – we suggest plastic pins for use with animals, and steel U pins for vehicle use. Where ground is extra stoney, plastic pins may not work so it is worth testing the area first with a probe (long screwdriver). In best conditions pins can be inserted at 500mm centres, however to ensure the mesh is adequately held down, 350mm centres are suggested (this equates to around 200 pins per 2m x 20m roll) – each roll carries a suggested pin usage, but this is relevant to your particular ground conditions.
Please ensure that enough pins are used – we’ve recently had one customer who thought they could get away with using under 100 pins for two rolls – instead of the 400 minimum we suggest – needless to say within 1 year the material had moved and had not been maintained – it now needs replacing – if the installation had been made according to instructions, and the product maintained correctly – then it would have lasted for many more years!
Preparation of the area may involve levelling, back-filling and compacting – again the installation instructions advise on this – we are more than happy to answer any questions you have.
