At Horsemat, we stock a wide range of high-quality 6’ x 4’ stable mats in both rubber and EVA, allowing you to choose the right solution for your stable and budget. Our stable matting ranges from 12mm to 22mm thick, with 17mm being our most popular option for everyday use.
Why Install Stable Mats?
Installing stable floor mats improves insulation, increases comfort, and provides enhanced protection for your horse’s joints and hooves. A well-fitted stable mat system creates a warmer, more supportive surface compared to bare concrete floors.
In normal stable conditions, rubber stable mats can last well over a decade. EVA stable mats, being lighter in weight, may have a shorter lifespan as they are less durable than heavy-duty rubber options.
Due to their size and weight, most stable floor mats are delivered securely on a pallet via courier.
Reduce Bedding & Save Money
Although stable mats are an investment, they pay for themselves over time. Many customers find they can reduce bedding use by up to one third*, depending on their horse and management routine — creating ongoing cost savings.
To maintain hygiene and minimise odours, loose-laid mats should be lifted and cleaned periodically. If you choose a fully sealed installation (installed by one of our recommended professional subcontractors), maintenance is even easier — simply pressure wash the surface.
