What’s Included in the DIY Stable Mat Kit?
- Pre-Trimmed Heavy Duty Rubber Stable Mats (1.2m x 1.8m) – Each mat is professionally pre-trimmed to ensure maximum adhesion. Rubber mat production involves a release agent (similar to greasing a baking tin), which prevents adhesives from bonding effectively. We trim every edge to expose clean “virgin rubber,” allowing the Stable Sealant to form a superior bond.
- Professional Stable Sealant (Flexible Rubber Adhesive) – Our specially formulated stable mat adhesive and sealant bonds mats together securely to create a watertight seal. This remains flexible under heavy use withstanding demanding stable conditions.For best results, apply to a clean, dry surface.
- Pressure-Treated Edging Baton (25mm x 50mm) – Used like a skirting board around the perimeter of your stable in a protective black bitumen caoting. This provides a straight, secure bonding edge enhancing waterproofing around walls to prevent mositure ingress at the perimeter. The 25mm thickness adds an extra barrier against fluid penetration.
- Hardwood Ramp Edge (Door Threshold Seal) – Fitted at the stable doorway this removes trips hazards and creates a smooth transition. The ramp edge also provides an additional waterproof sealing point to prevent urine or wash water ingress at the entrance.
While the kit includes all primary materials, you will need the following tools:
- SDS Drill or Combi Drill (with hammer setting) – for pre-drilling
- Impact driver or Combi Drill – for screws
- Stanley knife & spare blades (approx. 2 per mat)
- Tape measure
- 6ft straight edge (ruler)
- 310mm sealant cartridge gun
- 60mm wood screws
- Gloves
- Filling knife / scraper
- Masking tape
